Walks in the surrounding area

Reconnecting with nature is what makes a stay at 1711 Luxury Guest House so worthwhile. Here are some of our tips : stroll through the village of Montevecchia, climb the stone steps to the sanctuary and then admire the view of the Curone Valley, where on clear days it is possible to see as far as Milan. Those in search of relaxation can take advantage of the beaches and picnic areas around the lakes. Backpackers, on the other hand, can come across unforgettable views of the different Brianza lakes and Lake Como along the trails up to the Basilica of San Pietro al Monte or on Monte Barro.

Lake Como

Lake Como is one of the most popular destinations, attracting people from all over the world and is less than a half an hour away. Be enchanted by the medieval villages clinging to the lake shores such as romantic Varenna. You can also enter some of the aristocratic residences, such as Villa Serbelloni and Villa Melzi in Bellagio, which are now open to the public as museums of cultural and architectural heritage. Only a few minutes’ drive from the 1711 Luxury Guest House, will take you to Lecco and give you glimpses of Manzonian history, while on the opposite branch of the lake, Como will fascinate you with its Roman roots.

Milan

Cosmopolitan, international and always one step ahead. No introduction is needed for the Milan of a thousand faces. The skyscraper district in Piazza Gae Aulenti will transport you into the future, while the historic heart of the city between the Duomo and Castello Sforzesco will reveal an unexpected side of the city. Your craving for art and culture will be satisfied by the must-see museums such as the Pinacoteca di Brera, the Cenacolo Vinciano and the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana. Leave room for some fun too: a shopping session in the best boutiques of the Fashion district and then immerse yourself in the “movida” of the lively Navigli with all their clubs and restaurants.

Monza

Everything you could want in the Brianza capital is concentrated along the pedestrian avenue that runs through the historic center: international brand stores and luxury boutiques alongside the historic stores where you can rediscover the authentic soul of Monzal. The Duomo is worth a visit for the treasure it holds: the Iron Crown. But the real gem is the immense Villa Reale, of the Savoy royal family, with its 700 apartments and set in one of the largest enclosed parks in Europe. So large that it houses the Temple of Speed, the Autodrome which every year, hosts the famous Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Bergamo

Bergamo has two souls. The Lower Town reveals itself to the visitor in a contemporary guise, here culture lovers can “meet” Botticelli, Tiziano and Raffaello at the Accademia Carrara, while the Sentierone satisfies those who cannot get enough shopping! Not to be missed is the ascent to Città Alta by funicular railway: a short journey through time with this ancient means of transport. The historic heart of Bergamo is on the hillside, with the Piazza Vecchia and its Campanone and the Duomo with the Colleoni Chapel. After savoring the historic beauty we recommend returning to Città Bassa on foot by walking along the UNESCO World Heritage Venetian walls.

Pre-Alps and hiking

Alta Brianza is a true paradise for trekkers. The strategic location of 1711 Luxury Guest House allows you to easily reach countless valleys in the Lombard Pre-Alps. In the Lecco area, the Grigne, with their trails and unparalleled views, are one of the undisputed destinations for hiking, along with the legendary Resegone and Pizzo dei Tre Signori. Further north Valchiavenna and Valtellina speak for themselves: Val di Mello and Valmalenco are chosen by those who enjoy walking along high mountain trails.

Amusement parks

For those traveling with children, there are three theme parks within easy reach of 1711 Luxury Guest House. In Leolandia you can meet cartoon idols, have fun on the rides and learn about the “boot” shape of our country with Minitalia. Inside Le Cornelle Wildlife Park, the thrill of coming face to face with different animal species will delight the whole family. Finally, Acquaworld in Concorezzo is a fun place to visit with its water slides, pools, as well as indoor and outdoor play areas meaning you can enjoy the water park all year round, even in winter!

Wellness centers

Our guests know that peace and tranquility reign at 1711 Luxury Guest House. For this reason, we always recommend dedicating a day to wellness. Monticello SPA is well known in Brianza, while in Milan and San Pellegrino, the QC Terme chain has renovated historic and unusual venues (have you ever thought of taking a sauna inside a tram?) creating places of wellness luxury. Finally, in Concorezzo, Acquaworld also boasts a vast wellness center with whirlpools, heated pools, saunas and frigidarium for an all-around relaxing day.

Local food and wine

Any visit to the area would not be complete without trying the local cuisine. In our region, a good risotto rules: with luganega (sausage) in Monza or with saffron in Milan, and a must with ossobuco. And what about the cheeses: taleggio, stracchino and goat cheese from Montevecchia to name a few. Montevecchia with its terraced configuration cultivated with vineyards is also where Terre Lariane IGT wine is produced. For lovers of sparkling wine ( with “bollicine”) Franciacorte with its famous vineyards is only about an hours’ drive away, well worth a visit.
